Another thought: I've had good luck putting smelly books in a box with some wadded-up newspaper.

I've had luck with a unbrewed coffee grounds. You could seal the purse up in a plastic container with the coffee grounds. Just wrap it in a thin piece of fabric or a few layers of paper towel and seal it up for a day or so.

Chalk absorbs odors & if there are any oils stains it will help. White chalk board chalk. Not side walk. Put it in a flour sack towel if you have one.

thanks for all the great hints/information/ideas on how to remove the stink. Happy to report that 10 days in and the baking soda is working:) I checked it this morning and a very noticeable difference/decrease in smell. I changed out the baking soda as I'm not sure how long it lasts, sealed it back up and will let it keep working:)

Geez, I forgot all about this purse, found it in a closet today (while looking for something else) and happy to report that the stink has gone, no smell whatsoever:)
Also, I thought the man was a hunter, but to me he isn't holding a weapon, looks more like an instrument? But an instrument doesn't make sense.
Below is a listing with one the same, so maybe a weapon?

I think he is holding a gun, and a bag for game under his arm.

Glad the baking soda worked. For me, moth crystals or coffee would just be exchanging one smell for another :wideyed:

I'm betting @2manybooks may be right....I brightened it a bit to see if it helped....not really, but the whole scene.....what he's wearing, cornucopias, the birds (even tho they're blue they COULD be a thanksgiving bird!!!) makes me think hunting scene too...........and did you or someone else fill in the green between his legs??? At least it looks like a repair there.....or they got tired!!!!:happy:

I've had luck with coffee grounds (un brewed). Take a can of cheap coffee and Dump in a container with a lid. The container should be big enough to hold the item then lay down something so the item isn't directly sitting on the coffee a piece of parchment paper, a couple layers of pape rtowels etc, Close it up for a few days and the smell will be gone.

But won't it then smell like coffee? Just wondering.

I like coffee, but I don't want my purses to smell of it.

Not everyone likes coffee, so I would think it would be better to use something neutral, like baking soda, that way it doesn't replace one smell with another. That's why I asked.

    And it's JMHO :)

thanks 2manybooks:) I agree, looks like a bag and a gun.

thanks Marie, I'm glad it worked too:)

I didn't do anything to the bag, but looking at in person it looks fine to me. How could I tell if it was repaired?

    I agree with you:)

@cxgirl, it's just a solid and different green than the rest of the scene around where he's standing....not the beige & green on the outside of his boots.....at least that was my thought........I can always be wrong too!!!!!!!!:rolleyes:
