Small, ancient bronze head of what "God"?

Not sure what he was used for/as.

Are those letters across his topknot/hat?

 

The beard kind of looks like a pine cone? That might hold a clue?

Is it threaded inside? It's kind of a finial shape, so maybe it was at the bottom of a hanging light? Just a wag, though.

He's not pointed the right way - he'd be upside-down!

No lettering across the top nor is the interior hole threaded.

 

Something about the beard reminds me of a person from the ancient world... like Assyrian, for example?
