    Hi all,

I believe my little monk is resin as there are no ivory or bone lines and there are the bubbles/marks of a molded piece. But here is my conundrum. He is VERY heavy and ice cold to the touch. When you pick him up and hold him to your cheek--it it exactly like holding an ivory billiard ball. Super cold and doesn't warm up for a few minutes. I thought plastic/resin pieces were warmer to the touch--so I am confused. Is there a different material that he may be made from? BTW--street market find in Hong Kong-only a few dollars-just loved his expression! Appreciate any of your expert advice!

    Welcome!

He could be reconstituted marble. I bought a statuette in Venice that I thought was carved stone, but after doing research, I realized that it was probably reconstituted stone

    Welcome, Oldwatches.
You are right, it is resin. Very cute. Made to look like ivory, so no reconstituted marble. Resin can be cold and heavy just like reconstituted marble, polystone, etc.

Yes, those pinholes in the base are a giveaway for spotting resin.
