When I first saw this I thought Hawaii, but looking up the artist's name 'Munoz' I came across a Alaskan artist named Rie Munoz - could the scene be Alaska?
Is this a Rie Munoz painting?
If not, any idea who the artist is?

No, that's not Alaska; it's a tropical scene evidenced by the palm trees. I don't know what Latin American country would have so many volcanic islands so close to the shore. Somewhere like Costa Rica, I would think.

To me, a “thrift store find” is an item of great value discovered in an unlikely place surrounded by otherwise worthless items.. In other words, a needle in a haystack rather than just hay.

 

And sometimes a cigar is just where you happened to find a painting.

 

I really like that painting. Wouldn't look good in my home with all my Ralph Steadman, but I can feel the incline and imagine my feet falling with every step toward the water's edge. Love the details on the shack with the red roof.
