Bourne Denby England Green Vase

To be honest I carried this around for a while before I bought it. It keep speaking to me and a quick look on my phone proved it was a 30's item. The green is stunning and the shape is so simple and elegant, almost masculine. The finish is not glossy. I love it for some reason. Was I wrong?

 

This may help with dating.
Maybe pre 1916, since it doesn't have the Ltd. But I don't know for sure.

The color would be right for 1920s-30s.

Those were made as standard specimen vases for flower shows. I've seen some with an RHS mark added. Hence, simple design meant to show off blooms.

It meant competitors were judged on an equal basis.

It wouldn't have worked on me, lol. I've found a lot of sensational vases by looking past the ugly, dusty and discolored silk flowers stuffed in them. A friend gave me that tip years ago. But I can see the point in a flower show if everyone has the same vase. Kind of like funeral homes.

BTW, congratulations on getting the pictures in the background hung absolutely straight! It looks very nice.

 

These days, the equivalent vases seem to be tin or zinc, or even plastic.
