I am unable to identify this very humble mark but believe the dogs have become Royal Dux over time. The all-white affair has a brown circle with an O and some numbers. The other dogs have the same brown mark with a D in the circle, but no numbers. The first dogs, the white ones, also seem to have a signature.

I'm just a bit stumped by them and wonder if anyone has any ideas as to age or whether they're copies, or what. Googling "Czech marks/dog figurines" hasn't helped. Thanks in anticipation ...

How embarrassing. I see I gatecrashed a Royal Dux thread back in July 2017, posted these dogs and ... no brain cells left, sadly.

I wonder if they pre-date Dux or are fakes or what? Screen Shot 2019-04-04 at 8.20.06 pm.png

I'm glad you put these in a new thread. I get so confused when there are multiple unrelated items in a single thread. A lack of brain cells on my part :wacky:.

I don't believe these pieces are Royal Dux. Just something about the modeling and the glaze seems off to me. And I haven't run across any pieces of Royal Dux with just a dime mark but that doesn't mean they don't exist. There were many manufacturers of quality porcelain in Czechoslovakia. I'm not sure if the signature is the manufacture or the artist whose sculpture the manufacturer copied. I would guess the artist. As for age I'd put it between WWI and WWII just based on the round Made in Czechoslovakia mark. I wish I could give you more definitive information. They are adorable BTW.

Thanks Don. One was bought in Sydney, the other in the USA, and the glazes are very different. The finish of the two standing dogs feels a bit Amphora-ish, and there don't seem to be any Google images of it (both dogs with heads raised).

It's also curious that so few seem to mention the H Schubert signature. One that sold at auction gave the signature as "Schcustor" but the base was very different and it had the pink triangle.

I love this series of hunting dogs, and Sod's Law is producing a few more Google results this morning. These white dogs on Worthpoint look identical but are "marked "Royal Dux Deutschland 10719 7". This would have been made when Germany occupied Czechoslovakia".

Thanks again, Don. If you learn anything about that simple, round Made in Czechoslovakia stamp please do yell.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here, but I think the first group is much better than the second, and I think it probable that two different manufacturers are represented.

The pink triangle on the above piece looks fake. The oval around the E is uneven and it looks like it may be pink painted over white. Genuine Royal Dux triangles are made from solid pink clay. The letters are also impressed at different depths which is another indication of a fake triangle. Could be why there is no close-up of the area.

I can't tell about the Worthpoint dogs because the mark isn't shown.
