Ooh, apparently this bit is available in a variety of colors, so maybe it is the same characters.

Another one seen with great frequency, but hasn't remotely caught up with Headband & Ponytail Girls. Not quite high art, but a sweet gift for a friend. :)

EBay has some new lulus today.

*Miracle survival ring from 1830's Georgian Era ..!
    *
Museum/Showroom type of rarity, absolutely gorgeous cameo banded black agate sculpture that depicts a lovely tribute to Erato the Greek muse of lyric poetry.
*A truly special antique piece of jewelry sets in 14k solid yellow gold.
*Beautiful white/black colors contrasts between the Greek bright figure and an oval shape black agate gemstone, surrounded by 38 mixed colors of white and fancy colors ,rose cut diamonds all 100% natural earth mine.
*Diamonds measures around 1 - 1.1 mm each, but looks larger due to the rose cut wider rough overall look.

Figure probably more based on Terpsichore than Erato, but close enough, I'll give them that. It's marked '14' inside the shank, so I'll give them that too. After that...? Would love to hear @Hollyblue on the encircling stones. For the full listing:

Think they used the same pick to set them that they used to mine them!

I'm not either. Judging by pieces my mother had, AB was popular in the 50s, but perhaps they were a novelty then? Don't think they have been out of use since.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Wow, that's rare! I'm usually wrong in guessing. It's different if I know for certain but not being able to read the mark, who knows?

Any chance that Headband Girl is meant to be Diana?

    Hi,
The AB stones were first used in 1955.

AB came out mid-fifties and was very popular very quickly. (sniped by @gregsglass )

Which I had not thought about in the dating of this piece, but I entirely missed that "Germany" was even mentioned... in my defense, I had an MRI this morning (knee injury) and that means I also had a valium, so there's that.

None. In my not so humble opinion. She just does not have a single attribute, and Diana has been depicted in a larger variety of ways than most of the other popular goddesses:

Think the point was that when she first came out, she would have looked quite the modern miss, an updated departure on earlier cameos, the way the pretty ladies wearing flowers must have looked very au courant when they appeared in the 20s & 30s, replacing the classical goddesses.

As nearly as I can tell, Headband Girl is still being produced. I have certainly seen her more often in more variations of color, etc., than any other mass produced designs, including the earlier Czech ones.
