?? Primitive Tinder Box, Lantern Oil Box, or Wagon Axle Wheel Grease Box??

    Hello. I have what I believe is a "primitive" tinder box, however I have found very few like mine online. Those I have found give very little information regarding origin and time frame.

    The box is one piece of wood carved into the box. The hinges for the lid are wood also. The chain and metal pieces do not look modern.
    It weighs 5lbs 1oz. It is 9 inches wide across the bottom and 7 inches in height.

    I would greatly appreciate any information. Thanks so much.

    Hi, please post clear, sharp photos of the whole box, all sides and any construction details and hardware. Also include measurements.

    If you are using a cell phone for photos and you get an error message saying your photos are too big (they should be under 1MB), email them to yourself at a reduced size.
