Hello every one! how much is the value of this? it is antique found in the cave in the Philippines

it is very beautiful.
is it solid gold....or some other metal ?
can we see the base....

 

they said a bronze but we want to know the value of this..thank you!

You say it is antique, did anyone tell you? And did they give you more info, like period, origin?

This has nothing to do with historic Filipino Buddhism though. It looks Chinese and frankly I can't see much age. The base also looks unlike any bronze Buddha I've seen.
But I'd love to be proven wrong.

Maybe it was kept in the cave by one of the local Chinese, for a reason only known to him.

Did anyone ever hear of the Yamashita cave treasure, war booty, including a gold Buddha? That was in the Philippines.

 

So, sadly, that could be 34 lbs of RESIN???? B-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A!!!!!

 

I'm afraid that is what it looks like. But I must say, one of the nicer examples, and worth more than many others. But nowhere near the value of an antique bronze one, of course.

I would really like to be proven wrong, I hate crushing hopes.

 

Hello, Mary Jane. Unless you yourself found it in a cave, this sounds very improbable, & it certainly doesn't look like it ever spent any amount of time in one. Afraid whoever told you it is a bronze antique from a cave was being completely dishonest with you. It looks like bronze patinated resin to me, too. Solid resin can be very heavy, easy to think it is metal if it looks like metal.

 

My girlfriend got one. Much smaller and thought hers was brass. Someone suggested to her that she bring it to be tested. I can’t recall if it was 24k or
23k but it was solid gold and 8” high.
