    Nothing would stain any better than white alabaster. If it has been where there has been regular smoking...

    Sounds like it's been repaired. The crown and elbow were mentioned in the appraisal request.

    Italian artist working in Florence in the early 20th Century. - says appraisal, so my hunch not going anywhere.

    I don't know what the story is in either case, but one of the Roman cameo cutters I knew simply as Filippo Tignani, becomes Prof. Tignani in tourist guidebooks for Rome that date from very late in his career. Another change that seems to have occurred at the same time is that he begins to be listed in the more general jewellery section, in addition to being among those who produced cameos specifically. I'm not at all certain, but since I don't see every third name in these guidebook lists designated as Prof., have to think it has significance, maybe affiliation with an academy, maybe just some recognition of master status & a workshop where others are training.

    Grey marble on the base not matching up, though it could be reversed??

    I don’t think that is the O.P. s.

    Marble grain on the base, what I meant.

    If it was repaired, maybe cleaned off a little too much patina? That's certainly different.

    The red color on the unrepaired one covers more uniformly across the bottom. Now there's a section on the far left that looks like genuine stone color with more variation in between.

    Op has gold trim on bottom of dress, I don’t see on the other one.

    Gosh, that is remarkably similar. The differences I see are in the drapery that falls on the sphinx - mine is a little finer and the Greek key pattern trim on mine is more pronounced. Also the red stone on the other is blue on mine, the facial features are also subtly different.
    But what I'm not clear about is whether the one you have provided is also listed as a Sarchi/Larchi?

    Why repair jewels and elbow, and leave the knee scrape? Something missing behind her right hand.

    I'm starting to agree, not Op's...

    I'm not even going to attempt these comparisons without more info from OP. Already dizzy.

    Never mind. :)

    @laszlo

    The appraiser provided the ID, I don't see any mark mentioned.

    The draped clothing is painted - scrape on knee.
