Information on this chair, please

Hi all

This is another chair which John has been given for his upholstery. Any information would be great.

Mid 20th century...looks like birch or maple - finish is shot. Likely would cost $250. plus to redo fabric and refinish. would have to be a loved chair - value when redone less then restoration.

 

Pretty much what I was thinking. This would be a nice chair when fixed up, but unlikely to draw the big buck$$$. It might do better for reselling if painted a bright color instead of stained.

 

Give it back.

Unless, of course, there's gold in them thar ferny cushions.

 

If you are keeping it, then go for the renovation. If not, then go with what was said above.

 

Bit earlier than that, if it's British - between the wars. Might be E Gomme.

Dead easy to bring the wood back to life. More likely to be elm or beech.
