Hope you are enjoying your Sunday, all of you, and have myself started working on my box of unidentified objects that sometimes is quite demanding, until i ask you guys! This piece is really a very nice small pendant, with necklase. No marking on the pendant that i have found, only on the necklace- but i do believe that box, necklace and pendant is together. The stone is also very beutiful, but hard to get the colours on photo. Pendant is around 15 x 13 mm, stone being around 10 x 8 mm. Anyone who has any idea of where this may come from, what stone and maker? Cannot wait to hear from you all! :) 2019-03-31 09.34.15-1.jpg 2019-03-31 09.36.29-1.jpg 2019-03-31 09.51.38-1.jpg 2019-03-31 09.52.14-1.jpg 2019-03-31 10.12.56-1.jpg 2019-03-31 10.16.27-1.jpg

    Good morning Torkel.:)
The mark on the chain probably has nothing to do with the maker of the pendant. It is a pretty generic mark, although I can't read it. The pendant is not marked.

If the pendant had British marks I would have thought the stone was Blue John, an English type of fluorite. It also has the slight yellowing often seen in Blue John.
As it is, without British marks, I can only say the stone looks like fluorite and the pendant could have been made anywhere.

Thank you so much! I agree with you- the chain have proably nothing to do with the pendant. To bad with no marks, it is actually very nice - but need a good cleaning though, i see! :)

Maybe @Ownedbybear recognizes the pendant as being of a style sold in the Blue John county of Derbyshire? Unmarked would be highly unusual for British, but who knows....

My first thought was that it is not Blue John, but might be a stone that is like BJ in being associated with a specific place/region, having some meaning beyond being an interesting looking stone.

Pendant does not belong with the box.Maybe hobbyist/student made using way too much solder as can be seen on the twisted wire left side of pendant.

Can we get a light under that stone please? It does look like Blue John. The pendant is 19th C or early 20th in style, too. Not unusual for a small thing to be unmarked: the chain is far newer and nothing to do with it, with what looks like a common control mark. I suspect the jeweller in Chippenham just married them together.

Thanks again, i will try to make a photo with better light tomorrow, and post, so we may determine if it is Blue John or not! Thanks! :)

Or a previous owner married them and put them in a box from the jeweller in Chippenham. Nicely protected.
