Age and Origin of this Parasol(?) Handle?

    Any thoughts on the possible age and origin of this parasol(?) or walking-stick(?) handle?

    Not sure what type of wood its made from, but it does appear to have some age, it's lightweight and has a nice rich dark patina. The images do no justice to how well this thing is carved. I believe the carving is of snake scales and some form of leaves.

    Size Approx: 11-1/2 in.

    I vote for turn of the 19th/20th century, and parasol handle.

    And if anyone starts say "mourning", hit them with it.

    Oooo nice! I'd say Edwardian era, ebony wood parasol handle. (*I just looked and see some like yours, that'd probably make yours the bottom part of a folding handle!)
