I have this country house, barn and windmill litho. The bottom edge of this litho says Arthur A. Kaplan Co., Inc., N.Y.C., No. GZ-1270. The dimensions of the litho is 14" x 8" and the frame dimensions are 15 1/8" x 9 1/2". Was this litho done originally as a painting by some famous painter? If so or not so, I hope someone might be able to recognize this for me. Thank you for assistance in this item.

Don't know, but it might be done on long Island.

Business started in 1956. Think they're printers of decorative prints.

Is the mold/dirt just on the glass or is it foxing on the print?

Well, get some windex and warm water and go at a corner. It may be both, but that will clear up one mystery. To me, looks like it was previoously owned by a smoker.

ok I will do that. What should I do if its foxing on the print. Both my step dad and dad smoked. My dad was also an alcohol while my step dad quit smoking. Rob

Having the backing materials replaced might stop further foxing but, given that this print has little value beyond sentimental, any other efforts wouldn't be cost effective. In researching Kaplan prints, it appears that the numbers (in your case No. GZ-1270) are actually trademark registrations which will reveal title of work and author. Couldn't find this particular work in my brief internet search but perhaps, with a bit of time, you'll have better luck.
