Morning all :) Do you think this has some age or is modern?. Quite pretty either way- looks to be a mouse or similar on the side- sadly damaged :shifty:but if it has no value I will touch it up with some enamel paint. Thankyou DAA2C64B-5343-4190-ACDD-AC026BFED612.jpeg BC632DE0-81A6-41B5-AD39-FA5903308628.jpeg A6DD4891-4E36-4457-8A7F-20F03E23E3D9.jpeg 035B3151-A8FE-420D-9C17-88851C93D05D.jpeg

    Good morning KSW.:)
That is so cute. It is inspired by Fabergé egg charms.
Probably not very old, are there any marks?

Some people have charm bracelets with real Fabergé miniature eggs, stunning.
Looks more like 'similar'.;) Which I wouldn't mind at all, I like rats.
No great value, but a high cuteness factor.
What do you use, colorall cold enamel? Will you show us the restored piece?

    Thanks AJ.
    Can't see any marks.
OH is currently googling to find the right paint shade so I think it will be whichever brand has a close enough match. Watch this space.....

You may have to mix colours. Will you let me know what you come up with? I have to do some minor enamel restorations on jewellery as well, and was thinking of Colorall.

There's an excellent Facebook group on the subject of repairing and restoring costume jewellery, complete with recommendations for enamels.

    Charming!:)
Before reparing, it is very important to get rid of the tarnish on the lack, it must SHINE!;)
I don't know "colorall", will have a look :cyclops:
For my enamel kyratisations, I use "JudiKins Diamond Glaze", a waterbased acrylic glue/varnish self doming. Colored either with incorporating "Ecoline" inks, either with permanent markers.
Important is to apply tiny drop with a tooth pick, not a brush, and stay within the break's limits:joyful:

Kyra that is a fantastic restoration!. I would never know it had been restored.
I've looked at the Judikins Diamond Glaze, bizarre name but looks like a great product. I can get it on Amazon.
Can I be cheeky and ask what ink colours you would start with to recreate the colour on this pendant?, Ecoline deep green and lighten it (how?) I've had a search through my sharpies but none are quite right. I think it's going to be a devil to match and I'm going to have to tinker.
Hubbie has just been quite clever ( don't tell him) and scribbled some green sharpie on some tin foil and held it against it and actually one of the sharpies is very close. He asked the question as to if you would paint a thin layer of silver enamel paint under the Judikins stuff?. I'll try to polish it and see if it shines first.

    Clever hubby!

No need of silver paint under! For removing tarnish and polish the damage, I use a fiber glass pen brush like this one:
    https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/322221478444
Ecoline is easily lighten with water. I have 2 sets of 5 colors and one white (can give an opalescent effect in infinitesimal amount!) Resized_20190326_143651001.jpeg
I fold 2 or 3 pieces of tinfoil concave, put a drop of blue in one, a drop of green in the other, mix in the third with some water step by step till I get the matching tone.
Then put a drop of diamond glaze on a plastic pringles snacks cap I keep for that, then mix a tiny amount of my obtained color with it, using a toothpick (be aware diamond glaze is opalescent before drying clear!).
    Be careful not having bubbles!
Apply a droplet with the toothpick, stretching it to the edges.
Let dry under a glass (Nini :cat: proof!):)

If you aren't pleased with the result let it sit in water a while, it will turn white and soft and you can remove the repair and do it again!

Thrilled to see your result :)

Looks very similar- you are clever!. I googled and didn't come up with anything like that.
So it is a Fabergé Wannabee!.

Sadly I don't have a worthpoint account but as mine is damaged it probably isn't a fair comparison anyway. Is it still ok to home refurbish?!
Thankyou Bronwen and AJ, you are stars
