pitcher marked "Canton RM" is this English?

    definitely, english transferware might have originally been part of a set of 3 different sizes

    canton is probably the pattern name

    Yes I think Canton is very likely the pattern but who is ''rm?'' not rowland & marsellus?

    It's British, garter belt mark used by several factories.

    Yes, Staffordshire -- 1850 onwards?? You might rummage around thepotteries.org to see if you can find the maker, RM.

    Might be Ridgway Morley.

    I did a quick image search on the mark and this popped up. Of course, this one has Jabez Blackhurst on the top, but it has the same (what they call) "belt" with canton (the pattern) on the inside
