I don't mind spiders too much, when I find one in the house I make DH put it outside. But we don't have poisonous spiders here.

Woke up one light and kept seeing this dark shape swooping around the room. Woke up DH, put on the light and it was a bat. We opened the window wide, closed the door and slept on our living room pull out couch. Next morning we looked in and couldn't find him, we figured he went out the window. Then I peeked behind a painting and there he was. We put the painting outside the window and knocked him off. He went into a tree to fly another day :)

So bugs and bats, not too bad, but clowns AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

That spider wouldn't be my first choice, but it's well done. That snake on the other hand is really cool. I love bugs, bats, etc as long as they stay outdoors where they're supposed to be. On the other paw, spiders and snakes eat bugs and mice. We like spiders and snakes.

And I like mice and rats :beaver: observed them as a child outside, where I fed them with dry bread during holidays:facepalm:. Must say I don't have any inside my house, except the 3 ones Nini the :cat: brought in living as toys... I managed to catch 2 by the tail after a little chase and the help of the dogs, third one was flattened by hubby with a slapping slipper:hungover:

Poisonous or not, if I get bitten by one I get a strong allergic reaction which leave scars...
For clowns... as far as I can be considered by some people as being one, I don't mind them
    :hilarious:
It does... and for me it was a true horror movie :mask:;)

Wow, he looks amazing!. I’ve got a silver spider I will post a piccy when I did him out. Not as stunning as yours by a long way though!
On the subject of bats , if you want a giggle, google the you tube video of the Irish family with a bat in the kitchen. Funniest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Some of the language is a little (very)choice so be warned but it’s well worth it. I’ll post a link if anyone can’t find it.

Being terrorized by a bat is never funny!

A bat tried to drown me in a claw-foot tub at my in-laws' house once. Every time I came up for air he swooped lower. Finally in desperation I grabbed a face towel, covered most of my private parts, flung open the upstairs door and SCREAMED down the stairs. . .my father-in-law and three brother-in-laws came rushing to my rescue. . .my husband was the last up the stairs and he was laughing so hard he was crying. . .I didn't find it funny then and I still don't some 45 years later. :drowning:

Nice spider, Kyra! Love the engraved details...

Have been meaning to show you a piece of mine (sorry, old pic, crummy definition) - have a few dozen dragonfly jewelry items, but this watch pin started me off, remains the finest and favorite.

Made by Newark, NJ manufacturer Riker Bros., 14k with enamel wings, demantoid garnet eyes, and a little diamond and ruby, circa 1910:

Ah the stuff that happens during life. He seldom tells people the bathtub bat story 'cause he KNOWS the story I will tell on him. . .

Here you go Kyra. As I say, a class apart from your beauty and sadly a leg down but I’m rather fond of him ( or her!). I’ve done no research at all on it so if you see something I’d love to know. He’s silver and presume glass?. Lovely purple shade but lights too bad to see it properly. 1A0AF102-D5F3-42C0-87E0-BC67B8888543.jpeg C5C7554F-CAD8-46D2-B1EF-C10128A81147.jpeg C9305785-76F6-4237-B645-1E6C82E94030.jpeg 55441261-EB2D-4A5B-B9F4-DDD413937F20.jpeg BE1AE0AD-DE26-4AE8-83B7-FFDE4A809B20.jpeg 1EF017C5-0F78-4D68-BFAC-4CFAFA278D71.jpeg

I think your new arachnid friend is glorious. It looks to me more like a beautiful orb spider I once watched as she methodically built her web outside the window of the sun porch of a home where I was staying the night. The critters we called daddy long legs when I was growing up have very small bodies relative to their extremely long, slender legs.

Is this a particular kind of moth? I would only want to get a moth out of my house because I know it could not survive there, but think they are all beautiful & not at all scary. I used to be very frightened of spiders. I still don't want them walking on me, but no longer go into a tizzy, & can calmly redirect it if one does get onto my hand. My mother told me that when I was still young enough to have a mandatory nap in the afternoon, I used to insist on taking it to bed with me, if I happened to have a ladybug on my finger when summoned in. For some reason, they were always gone when I woke up. I am not bothered by any reptile or amphibian. Was at a seminar today that included a presentation on efforts to preserve the hellbender salamander.

There is a place called York Bay in the Northern Territories of Oz

It has a wooden jetty 100m long, you can swim out to the end but you are guaranteed not to swim back

One of four things will get ya.

    Great White Shark
    Salt Water Crocodile
    Sea Snake
    Box Jellyfish

A very good childhood friend of mine,
wealthy guy, Bentley and Porches, homes on 3 continents.
Brushed passed a Box Jellyfish whilst swimming.
Apparently 400 separate toxins are delivered into your body all at once.
No cure, certain death within 10 mins.

Jellies are something I would definitely steer clear of. Ditto for sharks, since I probably wouldn't know if I was looking at a great white or a grey nurse. I'm generally fond of snails, but there are some cone snails you wouldn't want to antagonize.

I was once bitten by a condor, she says conversationally, but we remained friends.
