Hello! Another thrift store piece, and I don't have any glass books. Anyone know the pattern for this loving cup? Found one similar on etsy, they said it was a 1930's World's Fair piece and attributed it to L.E Smith.

There are a whole bunch of pictures from different sites your cup on Google images. Just type in "amethyst glass loving cup" in the search and they will pop up

The Etsy one does not have this.

The back is blank, I wonder if they just engraved them at the fair as a souvenir?

Maybe others may know about that. I just came across that one, so I figured I’d show it. :)

Seems like this particular style may be from 1933 World's Fair in Chicago

Above is the wording from the Etsy ad. Tends to be worded in a way that is ambiguous. Not a lie, but sort of leading.

This is not amethyst glass, it is black amethyst glass. That is glass that looks black but if you hold it up to a light you can see the purple :)

Thank you!!! I left out the black, but very important, my dad collected black amethyst glass when I was growing up.

Great photos, black glass is so hard to get good photos of.

As already noted this is LE Smith #433. According to my book (LE Smith Glass Company - the First 100 Years, pg 101). It was produced circa 1932 - 1938 and again from 1952-1958. These aren't too difficult to find but are popular items and will sell if the price is low. The World's Fair etched items would likely fetch a little more.
