Featured Antique Lane Furniture

Picked up this piece today from a neighbor. I paid $50 for it. She said it was about 80 years old. It fits perfect but now wonder if what I got is a good deal. I see other Lane pieces going for quite a bit of cash. Any idea on a value of this piece? It is in great shape. I tried looking up the style number but cant seem to find it anywhere.

 

More 70s than 30s .You got an okay deal,bars and bar accoutrements are very popular right now.

 

Agree with Johnny about this being 70s or so. Therefore, not antique, nor 80 years old. I think You got a reasonable deal. You might see it a bit higher in some shops. As Johnny said, bars are popular items so do bring more than some things. It is not a high dollar item. The Lane pieces from just a few lines with more MCM sleek designs bring better money.

I found the following info about dating Lane furniture:

• On the underside of the piece you should also find a serial number. This is very helpful as you can determine the production date by reading the serial number backwards.
  
  • For example, our end table has the serial number: 063270 so our table was made on 07/23/60
    
  • Without a serial number, Lane cannot determine a date of production
    
• Your piece may also contain an extra digit – this tells you the plant location

If this info is correct, then it seems that your serial number, 4965090, should indicate a production date of SEPT 5, 1969 at plant #4.

 

Um...there was a Reason for this?!!

 

I have 2 end tables made on July 21, 1930 - how do I find the value please? I have style number also

I have this small chest on Brass legs and brass corner trim. It stands 20 1/2" tall, 18 1/4" wide, 11" deep. The serial # is 2684201 So my understanding is it was made in 10/24/1986 at plant 2? The style # spot is blank, but there is hand written 6600-20 Also I can not find anything remotely like it. I acquired it at an auction for only $20.00 plus fee & Tax. I'm wondering what the original price was for this back in the day & what it might be worth today? Also it is made out of very heavy wood like blood wood or similar to it. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Can't add much. This is an example of the so-called campaign furniture popular at the time. The price realized on the one at Charish would be unrealistic by a couple hundred dollars or more in my market.

 

yea, with all the damage to the one Charish I would not even consider it. I was lucky to pick this one up at such a deal with it being in pristine condition!

 

I was really bummed it was not an older piece.
