    That's the stuff. I checked the tins and it's sold as Brasso Duraglit and Silvo Duraglit for brass and silver respectively.

    It's very good for really mucky stuff, but do wear gloves or your hands will be as filthy as the silver! It's quite gentle and you only need a small piece, which can be reused. Just wash it off with a bit of washing up liquid in warm water and give it a good rub after with an old towel or something.
