Definitelt outside of my realm, but these were cheap. Can anyone tell me the name of this technique and am I right in thinking Japanese? Any info will be appreciated.

    TIA, Bryan

    Crewel embroidery or crewelwork.

I have just one question -- where are her legs and feet? I can plainly see her "rump" along one side and then . . . .??????? Are her legs and feet supposed to be hidden by the two draping, puddling representations of flowing fabric???? She looks "suspended" in the air.

Of course, it could be done that way to "balance" a shorter/smaller female figure with the taller/more robust male figure so that both could be framed in the same size frame.

I think they're nice. Charming in a naive fashion. While they may be from a kit, I think their naivete works against that notion. I think the woman is meant to look elegant and in that respect anatomy plays second fiddle.
