Where are you located? Do you know where the chair was made? I've seen some of these motifs, i.e. the "buttons" on the crest, this particular type of finial, on New Orleans furniture dating to the 1850s-70s, but everything else makes me think of a revival piece ca. 1900.

So: Beautiful slipper chair, late 19th century, mahogany or walnut: it's hard to tell from the darkened finish. What is a slipper chair, you ask? It's characteristics are that it is armless, low to the ground, with a high back and (usually) an upholstered seat.

 

For ease in putting on one's slippers.

 

It’s mahogany. I got the chair in New Jersey. As far as where it was made, there isn’t any info on chair at all.

Any idea on where I can find estimated value?

 

My daughter just inherited one that is very, very similar. I'll keep watching this thread for more info.

 

As beautiful as it is, I wouldn't expect much more than $100 for it.
