Today I found out that a local senior living center is no longer allowing outsiders in at all, even those like me who'd been invited. Some jerks who hadn't been got in and spoiled it for everyone. (sigh) Then I hit two dry wells ... and a nice score. 14k hoop earrings for the melt weight, Navajo bench beads (probably) and a few other oddments.

 

You don't say what you paid....but the beads ...from here...yes, look Navajo.
& the earrings are very nice !

 

I paid a whopping $32 for the whole thing. Can't argue with that. It includes the brown plastic string I broke and had to reassemble. Not sure which plastic, but I overpaid for those.

Hi, I'm a new member here browsing threads and just wanted to chime in on this. There are actually 2 flea markets on Rt 9 in Shrewsbury/Worcester. One is the Rt 9 Fleamarket (a few antique/vintage vendors and a lot of vendors selling knock-off goods) and the other is located at Spags (does anyone here know SPAGS?!?!?). If you are in the area you should check it out; all antique/vintage, no knock-offs.

Well power shopping it was, I took a very short trip to Peru this morn, but then the phone rang

I hit an antique show in the mall today....haven't been to this one in a long time.
My eye for glass & pottery has been greatly improved by hanging out here , but I really wish any 4 of you had been with me !

A little knowledge....is a bad thing !
They're all dealers so yes ...nothing was being given away, but I actually recognized certain items that I never would have before.
In the end I was more confused ( nicely so...though..) than ever before & ended up buying a pre 1930 Mic Mac ash & sweetgrass basket ....where it shouldn't have been.
Poor dealer paid $100 for it cuz some shifty no good told him it was rare.
By the time I got thru giving him it's history ...he was happy to see it gone for $35.

I noticed a nice Tapio Wirkkala vase , 3429 I think...for $80....if I see it tomorrow I may pop on it.
& a Aladin Inkwell....very nice..but at $175...to pricey for a novice....although he may come down somewhat.

Now I have to find church sales where these things are all $10 !!!

Our piece is a much better example than the one within the link and I'm sure much more desirable and valuable as well.

10k gold tiger's-eye and diamond ring, bronze medal(?) part and a silver medal(?) part ($0.25 each).

 

That tigereye ring was a score. You can probably melt that ring sizer for more than you paid for the ring. They're often gold.

 

Today's haul, such as it is. Spent $20 on this and a Passover tablecloth, and three canes. Two of the canes are walking sticks that someone took the bark off of by hand. Cane #3 is one of those adjustable metal things. The birdie is made of individual pieces of wood and done by hand. Normally I wouldn't have paid $5 for a pin cushion and basket...but it came with a carved rose quartz and 14k stickpin. (innocent face) The porcelain set cost a whopping dollar. The decoration is applied and the white base is translucent. No siggie. The Elijah's cup is silver-plated. The stapler is a replacement for my old one that has died of abuse.

 

& the stop slide for your stick pin should have markings on it as well.
& $20 worth of 1985 Longaberger leather basket !

 

I actually got out this week, but all I found was a tumble-up that I'm unsure off, and this . . .
Still, better than a poke in eye with a sharp stick.

Both marks (AJ & 10K) were hidden under that ringer sizer......I guess this is why the vendor didn't think the ring was gold?.....didn't see the marks.

I have always watched for older calculators, every since I picked up a bag full at a thrift and got a few hundred bucks for it. However, I had trained my husband to watch for them as well, and he got his hand on this one a split second before i did. So . . . that means I will have to share what ever I get for it. pooh!
