If you moisten the wood over the logo, it might bring out details.

Hi cxgirl, thanks for the pics. Unfortunately he's already asleep....he had a long, hard day of fishing.:meh::rolleyes:
But tomorrow I'll show him. He may not know anything, but it's worth a shot. He amazes me with some of his golf knowledge sometimes, so we'll see.

Looks like this might remain unknown - here is the reply from the fellow at the 'Antique Hickory Golf Clubs' site
    Hello Mary,

I have spent some time going through my research books but unfortunately I have not been able to find the motif that is stamped beneath the words FIRST QUALITY. If this motif could be found then it should tell us who made the club unless it is just a ‘fantasy’ motif to make the club look good when it was originally made. Also I cannot determine the name below the motif. It looks like B?lwon? Again this is probably a model name and not the club makers name.

I have a feeling this club was produced in USA. I say this because I have never seen the words FIRST QUALITY stamped to the head of a wood made in the UK. The club is actually a DRIVER. The sole insert is made from black fibre which is held in position by three wooden pegs. To be honest the club is in very poor condition so has little value. I would say it was probably made circa 1910.

Sorry I have not been much help, it always annoys me when I cannot find out who made a certain club.

    Kind regards,

    Graham.
