    Hello.
I'm new to this, so I hope I have posted in the right place and with an image that's the right size. I need some opinions on a piece of pottery i found scuba diving recently. It's a two handled, clay pottery jug about 10.5 inches high. The clay is not very thick, probably about 1/3 of an inch, and the bottom is flat. It isn't glazed, and the texture is rather rough. There are no markings on it anywhere that I can see.

Any thoughts/opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Also what waters was it found?

This was found off Nova Scotia. Hope these photos help. This thing seems a lot older than the other stuff we regularly find here from the late 1700s up to the 20th century.

I have no idea of the age, just think it is beautiful, such an elegant shape.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Tried to lighten the bottom, but it was pretty dark!!!! Were there any symbols or any kinds of writing on the bottom??? BTW, looks very cool!!!

Nothing on the bottom or any markings on it anywhere. I expect the dark staining on it is from the ocean floor where it lay for God knows how many years.

I agree with any jewelry - it's a beautiful shape. And I agree with komokwa - you would be best off inquiring at a maritime museum. They may be familiar with this type of find.

I believe the jars in that picture are of a thick type.
