When the cats are insisting on typing along with me, I get a bit frenetic. Now they've had their supper & are allowing me some peace. The presence of the Egyptian marks was fuddling me, but if German Egyptian Revival pieces were being sent to Egypt for resale there to tourists, it makes more sense. The silver was reassayed there in a cursory way. The mark just guarantees purity is no less than 800.

Eh, you'd think they would have marked them for the higher .900 standard, but suppose the .800 covers it. The German-made souvenir spoons are much better quality than the Egyptian-made - every once in a while, a German piece will show up with a '600' mark, so would assume these were special orders for the Egyptian market, but the bulk of the spoons are simply marked '800', though the occasional '835' or '935' shows up. I have a well-done German enamel spoon topped with a Horus falcon that's unmarked except for a tiny engraved Arabic '90' for .900 fineness...

Thank you for the information. The cufflinks do look similar. I'm calling it a day here and will be away all day Saturday, so may not be able to check in again until Sunday. Thank you to all who've contributed to this post. This forum is amazing...I've learned so much.

Walter Kramer designed jewellery inspired by the Baltic coast, where the Georg Kramer shop was located, in Fischland. He set his own unique 'fashions', never Egyptian Revival. He only used stones sourced in Germany, a lot of Baltic amber of course. As far as I know the GK mark was only used for the

In the GDR period Georg Kramer became Fischland. Walter Kramer had fled to the West, and the GK mark was no longer used in Fischland. It was replaced by a little fish mark. The jewellery became simpler and amber was substituted by polybern, an amber and resin mix.

There's a modern high end costume designer making enamel jewellery which harks back to this. I've quite forgotten her name.
