It’s simple, I did not buy it. Wanted to research first but because of no positive ID of the artist decided to pass on it.
    Tim got it.

No, not yet, but I have some nice items in my collection...I just bought this one at a thrift shop, and I've gotten some really valuable ones by buying first, then asking later...

I have two J.L. Datu paintings, and he was just featured on PBS's "Antiques Roadshow" episode taped recently at the historic Hotel del Coronado where his "Red River" commemorative belt buckle given him by the movies' director Howard Hawks, was estimated at low-end conservative value beginning at $3000. John Datu Arensma was the art director for the iconic western movie starring John Wayne and Montgomery Cliff.

Thanks for the Welcome!!! When I do see something I like, and the price is really right, I buy...I've gotten some super deals, and one I found for free was simply an old high-school yearbook of Herbert Hoover High School 1937, San Diego...I thought it may have had some WWII heros photos in it...Boy, was I felighted when I found out it was baseball great Ted Williams senior class yearbook, (someone else's not his personal yearbook) and he had signed in the back "Teddy.' Sold on auction with Heritage Auctions of Dallas TX (netted over $1000 on line bid!)

No, I first look at the feel of the painting, the actual brush stokes that make me interested...it's the same phenomenon mystic feeling when I first saw Van Gogh's actual works up close....
