My first coral bead find ever, from the Jumble today! I’ve found the little nubs and branch type but never the beads. Silver and agate?brooch, amethyst glass beads which are fritted but the clasp is useful and a Mr. T costume medallion.

The stone in that brooch may be jasper

 

Thanks Marie. It’s matte, not highly polished like brooch agates often are so you may be correct.

Here are my latest, local tin's.

 

Heidi Daus is a huge seller, evelb, so you really did score. I was in a local antique mall and one customer while I was there took all the Heidi Daus jewelry that was in one case..... for over a hundred a piece....

I went to an antique show and a few thrifts yesterday... felt like sleeping in, so I am sure I missed a lot when I got there around noon, but here are two finds:

The pearl collar necklace is damaged, but the findings are sterling and the freshwater pearls are older and nicer..... easy fix, a dollar.... this dealer rarely has jewelry, but she brought some and was selling it all for a dollar, I shudder to think what I missed...


This angelskin coral necklace was hanging with the costume jewelry in a thrift shop that has lots of nice things and misses things occasionally.... it is short, inner strand 14", outer strand 14", but the clasp is 14k and it was half-priced at $3.

I don't know if I ever showed this, purchased in a 2017 antique show sold as bone, 14k clasp, angelskin coral?, $15


And this.... the dealer had a bunch of $5 bags (seems people are starting to part with things at this show) and I almost died when I saw this.... I knew through the plastic bag these were genuine. Cream-colored with a hint of pink Japanese akoya double strand, inner strand 23", outer strand 24", 14k WG cluster clasp (pearls not exactly a matching color). Pearls detached from ball head findings, need repair. Do you think I can just have the ends knotted and put back in the findings? I do not want to restring.... perfect the way they lay, MINE MINE MINE!
And this is a table I have in my living room. I display some of the pearls and hematite I find in vintage vases and a teacup. The mother-of-pearl box is holding my uncle Ed's ashes until I can scatter them in the Pacific. Need a vacation this summer.....

DINGDINGDING! Score!!! Those akoyas are gorgeous. Unfortunately they look like a restring job, but it's more of a tedious job than a difficult one. You have to love finding the mistakes! That short one could be classified as a "collar", but some bitty folks can still wear on that short. If not, it's why they make extender chains.

 

It’s just over 18ins. As you found your thrift store angel skin coral, it seems the corals are often overlooked. I love the angel skin, I hope to find some one day and those pearls are gorgeous.

 

Found this on Saturday. The photo is what happens when I shoot at 11PM using my kitchen stove overhead light but... Hong Kong Chinese export silver abacus brooch. I'll get better pix later to see if we can figure out what the round links say. The abacus links all work; that's why I bought it.

Marko, can I ask how you immediately knew they were Akoya? I have a hard time differentiating between okay and great pearls - I'm afraid I may have unwittingly undersold some pearls over the years.

I once used a website that offers to look at your pearls and give their opinion (it's a pearl forum, so they don't charge), but I'd rather learn myself what to look for when looking at pearls (other than the obvious sign of gold and silver findings).
