Featured Old fishing landscape watercolour

Hi guys

I picked this up yesterday which I quite like

I've taken it to bits, but unfortunately no marks signatures or anything

Was hoping someone might have some insights, maybe on age or any comments

Paid £10 pounds, which I thought was fair

I took a certification in fine art appraising and the teacher included in his "system" toting up elements in the piece... Yours has quite a lot!

Thatched roof barn
Pond
Small forest/trees
Weir
Fence (2)
Sheep!!

Not prepared to debate his inventory method! Just food for thought

Weir was my uncle's name - explains my ability it identify them... Wasn't that other painting with a weir we discussed a while back yours?

The one gent looks like hes wearing 1920s clothing. Im leaning to very talented "sunday painter" . Its very charming.

My first thought was 1920s too. Locale should be identifiable through church tower with ground floor Gothic windows. Looks a bit like this. (Dershingham, Norfolk.)

I guess that covers most smaller churches in England. Could be one of the many Norfolk churches though, if it is, @Houseful may recognize it.

 

Daveys was a real place, too.

 

Yes it was, and that was also of a pretty generic English edifice (for lack of a better word). I hope Houseful will recognize it.

Houseful is in Norwich I think, and this was painted in flat country, which could be Norfolk. Norfolk is famous for its beautiful village churches.
Norwich doesn't do too badly either, with over 30 Gothic churches if I remember correctly.

 

If in doubt i can always Norfolk or Norwich it !!

 

Yes I am in Norwich, Norfolk and we have many churches. I’ll have a look to see if I can ID it.
