Small Blue Lustre Vase

    Any suggestions on the origin and maker? There is a partial label on the bottom but not sure if of the maker or the retailer.

    Stilt marks...hmmm, Japanese?

    Not necessarely. I believe spur marks can be seen on European and American pottery as well.

    Gosh those look more like nerds than stilt marks...jmho

    Nerds: little balls or worms of clay that pottery is set on in the kiln, we use them more for salt glazed wares so the pots don't stick to the shelves.... but these had to have been long as they go from the bottom ring into the middle of the bottom of the pot...as you can see the glaze was very fluid and ran.

    Looks like Japanese Awaji to me. I have two green piece. It's not uncommon for them to be unmarked or have a very rough foot.

    Man, I had to hear the word Japan from two members to remember that I got the vase from an estate sale where there were some Asian pieces. I completely forgot about the Awaji ware too. Most likely that's what it is.

    Awaji was my first thought.
