    Hi Friends,

I found some similar Satsuma vases online but none 12.5" tall. What's legible of the red "Made in Japan" Stamp on the bottom seems to date it to midcentury/1950s.

I'm guessing it's common and mass produced. Just wondering what those of you who know Satsuma pieces think.

Thanks in advance for any replies,

Looks to have been drilled for a lamp base.

You pretty much have it already, although these are usually late inter-war rather than post war. They were made in factory workshops at this time, often decorated by children. Without a makers mark tracing the workshop is largely not possible unfortunately.

This is quite a good example, as for an investment, the Satsuma Kyoto and Satsuma Moriage from this era are not good investments at the moment, The Kinkozan Satsuma and other high quality meiji Satsuma however are good investments in my opinion. As for decorative art rather than invesment, Japanese art offers great value.
