Thank you very much for your time Ms Wolf  my young lady is from Shengyang, and pretty much said the same to me. I really need to listen to her more. :)

Wooh Whoooo, I like the way you said “waaaaaaaaaaaay older than 19th century”. Well, at least thats the way I read it :D:D:D. I sent pictures to an apraiser and hope to get more info. Will update when I get more info, thanks again :)

Been to HongKong many years ago, and we are currently looking into a trip to Shenyang, but haven’t settled on a date. Wouldnt even consider it until mid May or sunnier(warmer days) being from Florida.....:)

pestered my nephew: the words say “only need to add glass. the show is in USA”
if it was for an exhibition, perhaps that may be a way of finding out more about the pieces??

the last word actually i think it's Mei Guo or USA but the "Guo" word for me didn't too easy to read,so it was for it

Thanks again Phaik :), yes these were sold at an exhibition in San Francisco as far I am aware, sounds like instrutions for the shadow boxes. I think it would be hard to tell if this was writen by the manufacturer for general products, or by the previous owners of the three pieces. Would have been a lucky strike if they showed the city the boxes were made.

Please thank your nephew for his help.

Now now young lady, there is nothing wrong with throwing in a little formality every now and then to keep this place respectful. I am still that wonderful single guy you know...

ut..um...a....grrrrr ok well not exactly single, ;):smuggrin:

YIKES, well so much for formalities containing proper etiquette in this online world. My bad, it was just that word “Fox” that had me going in the wrong direction. :hilarious:

For now on with everyone I’m just going to stick to @yournamegoeshere. :)

    Sorry

I received this information via an apraiser based on the photos only. In antiquers’s opinions, would this seem very accurate? I respect his opinion and most here too.

The figures are early 20th C. examples based on late 17th C. ceramics of the
Ming dynasty. However the coloration and glazes are very typical of revivial
pieces made after 1900 to around 1920. Over the years I've seen these in
Shadow Boxes, mounted on single post display stands and hung by small built
    in hooks on the backs.

These were actually quite popular in the west and were sold through GUMPS in
San Francisco and other higher end stores via their antiques departments at
    the time.

    Hi,
I used to buy a lot of Chinese Antiques from Gumps. Some of it wasn't antique but I have gotten a few really nice items.
