Not an antique, but I am wondering what this vintage metal stand would be used for? It is 22" I have seen similar that are ashtrays but I do not think that is what this is. It looks like it was used as some kind of drink stand because there are a couple of water rings on the top. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    TIA,
    Bryan

It sort of looks like a floor lamp with tray table that has had the upper part of the lamp pole removed. (or maybe I'm just getting a little punchy as I've been trying to id some lamps this afternoon too)

    Hi,
It may be all original. It looks like the lamp final was put the tray. The pole and sockets are missing. To me it looks like it was repainted white and gold/copper to cover the brass plating which as worn away.

I have seen some of these tray tables that are original but think this one was made from lamp parts. The tray part is usually more robust on those made to be tables. They also usually have a handle in the center rather than just a finial.

I vote bottom half of a table floor lamp. That finial doesn't look original to the rest. As Brad has pointed out, if a table the tray "is usually more robust." Also if it were only a table and not part of a floor lamp, the column and base are much more robust than the table.

I 'saved' one of these once by turning it into a updated table but left the vertical piece in place.
I had lots of damaged ceramics around, plates, etc. and so I got a special blade for my bandsaw and cut those into pieces. Then I fit those into a mosaic of sorts and it came put great! :)
