I've run into those blithering idiots before. The loud ones get in your face and call you names to boot - a female did that to me a few weeks ago. Called me stupid - this is after my high school SAT scores qualified me for MENSA so... nahhhh. People who yell are often covering ignorance, and a dealer who doesn't know the Miki mark is ignorant indeed.

It looks like something sold in shops here in the 1970s. Small batch pieces but sold retail. So it could easily be shed-built.

I suspect someone took a Smiths clock and made that thing.

I've been feeding my Bad Bag habit. Oops. Paid full price, charity stall, but still only a tenner each.

 

Only because you beat me to them! I'm not a bag lady, but those are metal mesh. For a tenner who'd resist? I suspect Whiting & Davis did at least one of the two.

 

-how old you reckon those bags are ?

 

Early 50s to early 60s probably. The older ones looked different. They could be a lot newer;mesh evening bags are still made now.

 

From the lining fabric and the clips and style, 60s at the latest. They're not marked W&D, but not all of theirs are.

 

here are a few things I've picked up over the last couple of weeks. The jewelry was in a box lot, will post on the jewel board about them. Miriam Haskel, Boucher sterling ballerina (missing one stone) and unknown amber bug.



Brass stirrup cups, stand 5 1/2"H and weight 13 oz, 2 of each. No marks so no idea on who or when they were made. They are nicely made, I suspect they have a bit of age to them, maybe 1960s?






this is a nice piece of Kosta glass, signed on the base - haven't looked into who the artist is yet.

Before I put these away in my permanent collection - Roseville Pottery - a couple of sites call this 1940-49. I had authenticity confirmed by collector before buying. Not a bargain, but I was excited to find an older piece - 5 inches:



Not as auspicious but far cheaper Roger Vines Mount St Helen Ash 1985 glass vase.
