My antiques and vintage collection

Hi I recently acquired some antiques and vintage items which I am trying to find out more about. Any knowledgeable info would be much appreciated. Here is a link to the items I have.

 

Post em one at a time in the right forums with added shots of the undersides and a short description and i'm sure folks will respond.

 

My money would be on the lamp being Italian.

 

Interesting items. The strong box is the most interesting to me. I have seen similar boxes from Europe dating to the early 19th century or even earlier. The paint may be a later addition. Your Chinese screen is of nice quality but could have been made most any time. The other furniture items seem to be 60s or later. Agree that the lamp is likely Italian and from this same time period. Can't tell you much about the vase or painting from these pics.

 

I see you have the strong box listed on ebay as 16th century and German. I doubt it is that early but agree that it is probably Germanic. Does it have a locking mechanism in the lid? Seeing that would be key to determining age.

 

I sure know nothing about it but that box/trunk is neat, love it

 

I see not a lot that is antiquarian, but some that may be madness. Or is that a shadow over the deep sea?

Agree. As Brad has found, the strong box is listed on eBay for the paltry sum of $6,999,99!!! The description given is "Antique 16th Century German Iron Nuremberg "Armada Treasure Chest Strongbox 1548." If that is what he thinks, why is the strong box posted here with not an ounce of description.

My initial thought on the strongbox was that it is 18th century but hedged the date a bit later since I couldn't see any details. Looking at the pics on the other site, I see the interior details and still think it of a later date than indicated on the top. Here is a very similar box dated to 1700 so very early 18th century.
