This approx. 8" square plate is made of "black" amythyst glass with silver trim. The back is finely molded with veins, etc. I'm having no luck finding a manufacturer. CAn anyone point me in the right direction?

By the way - in my usual OT manner, this plate has been used for three generations - and ONLY for dates stuffed with chopped pistachios, rolled in fine sugar and decorated with candied violets clipped, crimped, and curled in to looking something like orchids.....................not that it matters in the least ......................

LE Smith leaf plate. Whenever I see black glass, LE Smith is always a first thought. (Not always a correct thought.)

This leaf plate was made by L E Smith Glass, their No. 807 Leaf plate, circa 1936. It was made in black, blue, and crystal with silver decoration.

Was there a bowl that sat on it? Otherwise what would the ring be for?

No bowl - the silver "rings" are just decorative and the other ring (on the veined side) is the foot ring (I think that is the correct term.........)

LE Smith liked putting silver rings like that on stuff.
