Recently at a thrift store I picked up a large green wooden lectern/pulpit made by the American Seating Company (circa 1930-1956). It has a carved bible on it with the alpha and omega symbol on it. It's in vintage condition. Should I attempt to restore it, or leave it alone? Any knowledge about the worth?

I don't see much of anything wrong with it, though your potential customer base will be pretty limited with the specifically religious symbolism. Are new churches popping up in your neighborhood? What do you think needs "restoring?"

Not a clue what something like that might go for.

Just the fading. I didn't want to upload a bunch of pictures, but there are a couple spots with small breakage in the wood. I really appreciate you taking a look.

You have to wonder how something like this gets to a thrift store.

    Hi Sue,
Because churchs are closing down and they sell off the furnishings or people take them home and when they die the kids get rid of stuff. I remember in NY there was a small Catholic church that closed. They had a yard sale. I bought most of the linens for my church. They had a life size Christmas creche. 8 pieces of Italian 19th century plasterwork. I only wanted the angel. They would ot break up the set and I had nice apartment but no way could I fit all the pieces. They wanted 250 bucks for the set, I offered them 150 just for the angel. I always wondered what happened to the set. Later friends said I should have bought the set and just took the angel and left the other pieces. It was so sad
