1851-56 imperforate issue
In 1851 a new series of stamps was introduced to accommodate lower postal rates. Domestic deliveries of up to 3,000 miles were now charged only 3 cents per half-ounce and local delivery charges were reduced to 1 cent. New portraits were introduced for Washington and Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson was added.

The one cent blue Franklin introduced at this time and then re-issued with the 1857 perforated issues listed below is one of the most thoroughly studied of any stamp. This study has resulted in a large number of recognized variations. The original design for the one cent Franklin was slightly too large to fit in a 200 stamp plate. Therefore various outer elements were trimmed away to squeeze the stamps into the plate. Collectors have identified numerous types of the stamp based on how much of the design was trimmed.

Well the ram is 14, and 38 grams, but my jeweler wouldnt buy it without a receipt from the seller...ha that's not happening. He is cautious when something has higher value. He said it was rare and would raise a red flag and he could have to hand it over.....(not rare, I think they sold stuff like this in the 80's in the middle of the malls) sure I can find a buyer...he offers75% of scrap = 600 only with a receipt...

And 75% is less than I sell scrap for on eBay. I never go lower than 85%.

 

I dont sell it much on ebay anymore, once in a while, but won't this. Don't want a fake one back or any other headaches/fee's. I do know a fella up the road who pays more, will check with him

then outa the blue a lady called me from the past adds I use to post adds and bought jewelry from, hopefully we are gonna meet on friday, not sure even which person it is. One lady didn't have a whole lot but Im up for whatever...

 

Hmph. I've a great local gold buyer who pays at or slightly above scrap for decent pieces. She then sells them on as jewellery a bit more above scrap. No receipt and payment in cash. She's honest, her scales get checked, and I'd not go anywhere else.

 

I had to forfeit the ram today..........my jeweler reported it as possibly stolen
I can not get it back without proof of purchase, so much for good finds
why shop....

If it is NOT claimed in 90 days you should get it back. If you do, sue the jeweler in small claims court.

Im shocked, my jeweler is a man Iv known for nearly 40 years. He use to have his shop right next to my dad's barber shop for 25 years or more. He does not remember my dad, hes probably 70's. anyway he has told me in the past he has to report fake or potentially stolen jewelry, but Iv sold to him for several years since he started buying jewelry
They want valid receipts....otherwise I have to involve the selle/get proof from the seller...good luck with than one

 

What?!!!! How does he know it might have been stolen? This is suspicious to me. I'd give your local police a call and let them know what has happened. If it's true and the ram was potentially stolen, they would know about it. If it wasn't and the man was lying, then he's in BIG trouble. Either way, better for you if you get the cops in on the situation. Good luck....this sucks for you!

 

I also think it's weird that you said "in the past he has told me he has to report fake or potentially stolen jewelry." It's almost like he's been giving you an excuse all along for why he takes things from his clients. Hmmmmm!

Iv taken jewelry worth several hundres to him before, maybe he thought I was stealing then....?
