Hello! This is my first post. I have been doing research every so often on this guy but never get anywhere. I was told by the man that gifted this to me that it is a Buddhist meditation chair from Kobe Japan. I would like to see if anyone has more detailed insight or knowledge of the piece. Thanks !

    Welcome to the forum Brandon.
    Beautiful chair.
I thought I posted something yesterday, which seems to have vanished (issues with a former life?). Anyway, most of it is already in the link Johnny posted.
Part of the writing on the back is likely to be the monk's name.

We have no Japanese translators at the moment but lpan has been posted, I think as a Chinese translator who could possibly make sense of the Japanese text.
Other translators of Chinese who might be able to recognize something are @Silver Wolf , @Asian Fever and @JayBee . No pressure guys.:)

Yes, it is Japanese. Can you make any sense of it through you knowledge of Chinese characters?
Do you mean the difference between the part where the text is and the rest? Well spotted.:) I don't think that is a problem though, it is not an antique chair. In this case probably just part of its history?
The seat looks pretty new too.

seeing the words,i cant found any hiragana or katakana character (i'm not good at japanese),and the shape of the chair doesn't think its chinese style.
