I am not even going to try to guess here to avoid embarrassment. I was totally befuddled and learned I know zilch about Greek mythology in trying to research this. The images stand out very vividly against the gold backing. There are solid gold outlines around each figure. The symbols around the edge of the frame are very interesting but I am having trouble researching those also. The frame measures 10 1/2" by 10 1/2" and the image inside is 7 1/2" by 7 1/2" Any ideas, help, or leads will be very much appreciated.

A couple of hoplites fighting, for starters.

Ditto. Hoplites often had scorpions on their shields. I like the frame, but no idea if the decorations mean anything.
    A Greek souvenir I guess.

Thank you, it probably is a souvenir, but I have never come across anything like this. I researched hoplites and they were very interesting. Probably not the best comparison, but very early militias came to mind. I'll probably rotate something from my wall and replace it with this because I love the imagery and now the history of it. Thanks again.
