U S Army Officers green cap Age help and identify?

I picked this up at a half off Black Friday sale. So, it was a pretty good deal, i hope.

Also there is a tag with a name and numbers on the inside?

Looks like '70s or newer

The tag is more likely a customer number than service member number

 

So I can stop looking for a WW2 Vet named Gerardy then. I thought older but that is why I asked the experts.

He made Major on 15 July 1962, so the field-grade hat dates from the early 1960s at the earliest. Gerardy was a WWII, Korea, and Vietnam vet.

The same numbers 060667 are on his obituary and the hat tag. So how did you find that?

That’s not an obituary; it’s his record in the 1965 US Army Register. It summarizes his military career up to that point.

O60667 was his service number.
