    It's Italian. The 349 is the number assigned to the goldsmith. The MA is the region. Let me go check what the MA stands for.

    Well no wonder I couldn't think of MA - there doesn't seem to be one. Maybe it's VA for Varese? or NA for Naples?

    The 500+ number is the decimal designation for the gold's fineness.

    585 is 14k gold.

    Unfortunately my go-to source for numbers in Italian regions only lists the first 215 in Naples.
