Small basket marked indian.

I have a tiny little basket 6x8x2 with a tag saying indian on it. What tribe could have made it? Is this split ash?

 

You have a basket with a tag on it, saying "Indian." So first, you have to find out what tribe, if any, made it. It can't be sold as "Indian," regardless of what the tag says, unless you can prove it is from a specific tribe.

I wonder if they meant from India, instead of Native American?

 

I would not try to sell it without identifying it, hence my post. It had the tag on it when I pulled it out of the box, and I decided to try to collect information before I tried to sell it. I did not put the tag there and I will most likely be removing it before I list the basket

 

That could be the case! I do not know much at all about baskets yet and have not encountered one from India that I have had identified yet, so I do not know what their baskets look like

 

the fibres do not look North American..
