I was simply changing your estimate from Euros to US $ since the OP asked and suggesting that a Google search is pretty easy. I have no opinion on what it might sell for in the USA.

that's okay, ta. the problem is my wrong guess that the cupboard was in Germany - sorry for that.
but the problem will remain - US furniture experts - and British ones as well - simply don't know enough about the widespread varieties about the continental differences. although I like the functionality and honesty of typically US furniture - Amish, Shakers etc. - I'd never allow myself an opinion about them.
it's another matter when it comes to widespread styles like art deco that were en vogue at about the same time worldwide; but even then there are sometimes little differences - that are highly interesting and I am grateful when I see them here in the differing opinions.

Maybe search online for a hand painted German or Austrian provincial (country?) wardrobe, or something along those lines.

Or alternatively beautifully painted cupboard for holding yokels.:D
Sorry, Seesoldat, couldn't resist after the previous posts. Doesn't mean I don't like it, I do, it is a beauty.

Oh Boy is right! When it comes to the family story VS riven oak, the old oak tree just isn't doing well, it loses the argument most of the time.

Anyone else get the feeling that the decoration and date may have been enhanced/ added at a later date? Believe it to be a legitimately old cabinet but, possibly, embellished.

Yes, i did but I didn't want to say anything! Paint decoration looks newer to me but cabinet appears old. If you click 2nd full pic down to enlarge, it doesn't look like "old" american paint but, it's not american so i dunno.

True but, it's clearly a continental piece, not sure about Germany but for sure Europe.

It was bought by an Army soldier while he was stationed in Germany. I thought it was beautiful so I bought it. I paid $1,500 American dollars for it. Compared to a new piece of crap furniture that they sell today, was worth it to me. I appreciate all the insight offered here. Looking up similar items, the color used looks like a popular color for that time. I have no idea about antiques, but they intrigue me. Thanks again!

Found this through a search. Looks somewhat similar. I noticed mine has the same round feet.

The feet are similar, but the general style is different. Maybe you should search for Bavarian.
