Telescope help please ?

Hi ,

I wondered if anybody knew what this was , where it was from ? How old it might be ?

I bought a mixed lot at auction and this was in one of the boxes.

Size and any markings?

 

I will post tomorrow when I’ve picked it up , I just really like it and I’m trying to jump ahead

@Jemma1979 , just curious whether you still have any questions about the telescope? Was it adequately marked? Looks like it's attached to a base.

 

It looks like it's missing at least one part.

 

There are no markings at all I’m a bit at a loss

 

The size suggests a naval or maritime use (I'm guessing this thing is about 2-3ft long, minimum). The lens-shield or housing around the eyepiece appears to be missing...Can't say anything else until I see more.

Is it bigger than a crumpet cozy?

 

If it is about 15-20 X magnification, is likely a military spotting scope, used most commonly to view a rifle target so you can see from the firing line where shots are hitting.

 

If the avatar is a pic of Jemma, she’s almost a dead-ringer for my sister.
