Asian pottery piece

    Does anyone know what this is ? A bowl or a container missing the lid ?

    Has an asian symbol on one side and what looks like an O on the other side. No markings on the base that I can see, any ideas on this piece ?

    The unglazed bottom looks like it was set in coals or a brazier for cooking.
