Well not really a box but this rotating figure is what i think is celluloid? made in Italy with Reuge musical movements.

Where's the key for the movement? What tune does it play? I'm not seeing the connection to The 3 Little Pigs. Maybe the label doesn't belong?

Could this be one of those ANRI things? (I have no familiarity with them.)

    Hi Mikey,

Reuge, although an old company, is still in business. I think this box is newer than 1933 (based on the appearance and font of the labels on the base). Guessing this is 1960's plus or minus ten years. Some of the Italian music boxes have a following, not sure which exactly, but if you do list, be sure to put "Reuge" in the title. It does have a bit of an ANRI look, but pretty sure ANRI pieces are carved wood.

There was a time in the sixties when shellacked paper or some kind of plaster (?) figurines were made on top of music boxes like this, not sure exactly of the material used. I know my parents had an elaborate Disney Snow White dwarfs scene rotating box from Italy they put out at Christmas and the time frame would have been 60's or so, and looked something like this.

    Best of luck with it!

    I agree with Lucille.
    Late 60s - early 70s.
    Lacquered papermache or light plaster.

Bob - the winding would have been done by twisting the base. Which I also believe to be a newer than 30s movement.

    Love this edit button.
Lucille - Anri also makes resin figurines.

I have been buying and selling Reuge boxes for over twenty years now and can say for sure that I have seen this same label on ones dating into the 1940's. I didn't say this was 1930's, just the song dates back that far.
Yes the bottom of the base is wood and you turn it to wind the box. the figure and the stand are of some kind of hollow plastic type material. creamy white on the inside and all painted on the outside. very light weight not like plaster or resin would be. the figure looks more like a rendition of a Hummel figure rather than anri.

It looks like a 60s Hummel clone to me too.

Hi Mikey! It looks cast resin to me. If I remember correctly, these may be hollow in the center. I see both Hummel and Anri characteristics, moreso Hummel in the subject matter and Anri in color. 1960s.

    Hi,
I agree with the above, it is a copy of Hummel's "The Goose Girl."

Welcome, Meghan310 -- I am going to put in a tag for Mikey just to make it more likely that he will see this. @916Bulldogs123
