These are the bits that amused me from yesterday's car boot: None of them more than a pound. I really like the creamware springbok, very Deco. And if anyone has a clue on the Weird Wooden Thing, let me know.

What is the size on the wooden thing? Big enough for a tobacco box or tea caddy?

Brad, the wooden thing is only about four inches high. The lid comes off, and the wood is substanitally darker inside: the outside is sun faded. It's some kind of African hardwood, and the finial and legs look ivory.

Greg, I think the brush set will sell very well here, too. I suspect it's just pre war - the style is very Deco, but the little clear lucite finials make me think late 1930s.

Donald and the two Mickeys have no marks, but are certainly Disney knock offs, I think 1950s.

We want them, but they're a little too large for yard art. My family almost ended up with a railroad caboose as a tool shed when I was a kid, but the town wouldn't allow it. (sigh) I'm picturing all the junk/treasure we could stash in something the size of a nice lend-lease destroyer.

 

I found three boxes of NOS clay chips at the thrift today but can't find what to price them at. They have no print on them.

 

Im not getting notifications and I haven't marked anything as spam,anyone have any ideas ? Picked this up today cause I found the tile so pretty,though I suspect its not old.It has a cork board below it.

I usually don't get around to post on the finds thread, but had kind of a nice set of finds so got some photos in order.

First I found a Baccarat bull at an estate sale. I haven't found much Baccarat, maybe I wasn't looking, not sure. Got home and did some follow up research and decided I'd keep my eyes out for Baccarat.


Literally two days later -- this collection of cats fresh in a bin at the thrift! (Three signed Baccarat, the two larger ones signed/numbered Ronneby Sweden.)


Completely different, a single from a pair of bookends, but I just love it and think it works fine on its own.





Other side stamped, "(c) 1914, foil label: Armor Bronze

My best find this week was a studio lighting set with everything but the umbrellas for 1/4 what it would sell for on eBay. I'm going to try it out and see how well it works. If it improves my photography substantially, I'll keep it.

 

Search S. Morani Bronze and you'll find a lot of bookends. I found an example of yours called "Athena" with an eBay price of $1000 for a pair. Don't know if those sold or not, but Morani bookends do seem to be pricey. The S apparently stands for Salvatore and c1914 seems an appropriate date.
