Yet Another Request for Help with Signature / Artist

This is an oil-on-board painting, the artist's signature is maybe "R. Scher"? There is faint writing on the back that says 1955. Has anyone heard of this artist, or can help decipher the signature? Thanks again to everyone.

 

Painted with exhuberance but... Not sure that's the work of a professional artist.

Ditto - pure 50s hobbyist. BTW - @JBKingEsq - I like your avatar, even if it is Conrail. My late dad was a hard core rail nut. (primarily steam, but if had wheels and ran on a track it was game on.)

 

Thanks, I am an ex-Con (former Conrail employee, that is.).

 

My dad's fave was the Erie Lackawanna, a freight line mostly and before Conrail existed.
