RE: the Omega: It's only good for parts, but the winder has the Omega symbol on it and that alone is worth close to US$20.

And just when you think you have seen it all and know it all, you end up with a new medal, I have never heard or seen of.
Second experience in less then a year (about two different medals!!)

It is about the medal with the palms, commemorating the (Belgian!)garrison of the Rhine after WWI

Started a (very) temporary job this past week at the Salvation Army. The only good thing about it is that I get 50% off anything I want.

I thought this was adorable, but now that I've looked up the prices, I'm a bit disappointed. It turns on but needs a new belt, so that's a minus for selling it. Five minutes after I bought it, a lady who loves old sewing machines came in. Wish I had offered it to her for the original amount.

It's a small Betsy Ross sewing machine. I've heard some say it's for children, but others say it's just a small portable sewing machine.

@evelyb30 I'm so excited. I kept looking for the cloisonné/Ginbari vase we were talking about and found a number of similar examples under ginger jar. The citations were all over the place but now I have a search term. [IMG]

The paperweight is a close pack scramble on sodden snow. Clichy, circa 1850. I'm a bit pleased.

Just a bit... I would be too, and I don't collect paper weights. The few that turn up are recent Chinese or 80s Italian ... and some dealer always wants the earth.

Hello all, does anyone use WorthPoint?

Wondering if it's worth the subscription cost:)

I use it for looking up prices and id'ing items. ebay used to store more sold items than they do now. When looking for something rare or seasonal, it has come in handy.

    I'd call it worthlesspoint

Most times I've seen something on it it was misdescribed
It will show you a value from years ago that is irrelevant now
Shows a completed sale when actually the seller's shill won
Shows a completed sale when in fact in was a nonpaying sport bidder
